Inrecent years, ITU argon pipeline welding method has been widely usedin petrochemical industry, power construction and energy system.Different from the common arc extinguishing and priming process ofmanual arc welding, manual arc welding fills the cover surface.
ITUargon pipeline welding is an efficient and high-quality weldingtechnology using manual tungsten argon arc welding, continuous arcbacking, internal and external wire feeding process and argonprotection.
Itis easy to complete the single-sided welding and double-sided formingprocess of some important pipelines such as high-pressure, flammableand explosive. Therefore, it is first used in energy industries suchas petrochemical and electric power.
Generally, argon ITU welding is argon arc welding for backing and manual arcwelding for covering. After argon arc welding, pipes with a diameterless than 80mm can be filled and covered with argon arc welding, which is technically called all argon welding. If all 80mm largediameter pipes use all argon, the time cycle is long, which willcause high material cost, so it will not highlight the advantages ofhigh efficiency of argon arc welding. Therefore, in general, largeand medium diameter pipelines are filled and covered with smalldiameter electrodes after argon arc welding.
Toolsand equipment for argon ITU: argon arc hand arc welder, argon arcwelder, or DC welder plus argon arc welding handle. This gas usuallyrequires industrial argon with purity greater than 99.9%. The argonpressure reducing gauge is installed on the argon cylinder, and theshielding gas can be opened to about 15L. Welding wires withdiameters of 2.0, 2.5, 3.2, etc. Usually 2.0 and 2.5 are used.Tungsten electrode is also called tungsten needle. Cerium tungsten isgenerally selected, with diameters of 2.0 and 2.4 respectively.Select the appropriate tungsten electrode according to the pipe size.In addition, the ends shall be ground to a 30 degree cone. If thereis no sharp tungsten electrode, the heat will not be concentrated, sothe tungsten electrode should be ground well. Put the tungstenelectrode into the welding handle and extend it to the nozzle for 3 ~4mm. The current is selected according to the pipe wall, generallybetween 70A ~ 130a. DC positive connection is selected.
